I began CrossFit at the age of 21 and quickly realized that my favorite part of the workout was barbell work. Through CrossFit, I learned of the existence of Olympic weightlifting. And from there my interest turned into an obsession. I decided to pursue it physically and intellectually, gaining my USAW certification in the process.
My teenage years were filled with mischief, a disregard for school, a disregard for authority, and general juvenile delinquency. At 20, I realized I was on a path to nowhere and I wanted to change. So I got a gym membership and decided to become something else. I changed my paradigm and was granted a chance to be better at living. I put merit into health, strength, education, and fitness. Now it’s been 6 years and I couldn’t be happier I made the decision to change.
I absolutely love coaching the Olympic lifts. There is something special about learning how to do them right. I am filled with pride and joy when I get across to someone when I make a connection with my cues, and all the pieces fall into place. It’s something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life, regardless of the pay.
